Want to be a Voluntary Rural Fire Fighter?
The Wellington Rural Fire Force (based in Tawa) is seeking applications for volunteer rural fire fighters.
The Wellington Rural Fire Force is a volunteer group administered by the Wellington Fire and Emergency New Zealand that fights and prevents fires in rural areas, forests and hills in the Wellington region and is also often called on to help the Fire and Emergency New Zealand fight fires in Wellington city. The official fire season runs from 1 October to 31 April and Fire Force volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week during this time.
We are currently looking for people who:
- Live in the Northern suburbs
- Are aged over 18 years and have a driving license
- Are healthy and physically fit
- Are hardworking and can think on their feet
Volunteers meet every Wednesday night and train to NZQA Fire and Rescue industry standards. All successful applicants will be required to undertake police and medical screening and must undergo an annual fitness test.
