Wellington Rural Fire Force

Why be structured when you can go WILD

The Wellington Regional Council formed the WCRFF in 1993. Originally the Force shared residence with the Wellington Free Ambulance at Newtown. The Force moved to its own station in Burma Road Johnsonville, in December 1999 and stayed there for 3½ years. As the crew numbers increased and the purchase of the tanker the Wellington City Council moved our location to Tawa Depot on the 12th July 2003. Our current station gives us the opportunity to increase our crew numbers to our desired benchmark of 30 as well as housing our entire fleet, which currently consists of 6 vehicles, 4 trailers

To provide a specialist vegetation response to manage wildfires in Wellington's rural areas and compliment NZFS responses to vegetation fires in urban areas.

This video was put together to remind us of all the fires we have gone to and the team work that went into fighting them in the past 15 years.
Thanks Colin for putting it together
